In 1950, on his first visit to America, Bernard Leach was invited by the Mills College Ceramics Guild in Oakland, California, to speak and to demonstrate.
Leach was then at the height of his international fame. A Potter’s Book, his first and most influential book, often known at the “Potter’s Bible” was being read by craftspeople around the world. Shown in this brief film are several important American potters and educators from the period, including F. Carlton Ball and Glen Lukens.
